Doctoral studies at the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, are coordinated by the University Professional Council for Doctoral Studies, which is formed by the University Senate and has 11 members from all scientific research areas. The University Professional Council for Doctoral Studies is chaired by the Vice Rector for Teaching at the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje.
Members of the Professional Council for Doctoral Studies are:

The organizaton, competencies and the way of work of the University Professional Council for doctoral studies are determined by the Articles of Association of the University, the Act for its establishment and the Rulebook on the conditions, criteria and rules for enrollment and study at third cycle studies - Doctoral Studies at Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje:
- gives an opinion to the Rector's Board and the University Senate on study programs for doctoral studies proposed by the units and associate members of the University, who perform higher education activity for doctoral studies;
- takes care of ensuring the quality of doctoral studies;
- takes care of connecting the existing ones and encouraging new doctoral studies, especially for accreditation of study programs in English;
- gives an opinion to the Rector's Office on the competition for enrollment of doctoral students, based on the proposals of the units and the associate members who perform higher education activity for doctoral studies;
- confirms the final list for admission of students after the competition for doctoral studies, by study programs;
- at the proposal of the units and the associate members who perform higher education activity for doctoral studies, confirms the list of free mentors which is an integral part of the competition for enrolling doctoral students;
- upon the proposal of the units that organize the study programs, confirms the list of elective courses for acquiring generic knowledge and research skills;
- coordinates the teaching of subjects for acquiring generic knowledge and research skills;
- upon the proposal of the organizers of the study programs, confirms the list of teachers who teach the subjects for acquiring generic knowledge and research skills from the university list of elective subjects for the third cycle of studies;
- prepares an annual academic calendar for the realization of doctoral studies at the University School for doctoral studies;
- appoints a member of the Professional Council for Doctoral Studies, which belongs to the respective scientific research area, to participate in the annual conferences;
- takes care of the accomplishment of this Rulebook, for which it adopts instructions and other general and individual acts;
- in cooperation with the units and associate members that perform higher education activity for doctoral studies, keeps a register of study programs, organizers of study programs, mentors, teachers of generic knowledge and skills, enrolled students etc.
- prepares appropriate analysis and submits to the Rector proposals for improving the quality in the study programs for doctoral studies;
- gives consent to the act for organizing joint study programs of the units with other universities.
- sets the standards for preparing a doctoral thesis and a self-summary of the doctoral thesis;
- takes care of the quality of doctoral studies
- performs other activities determined by this Rulebook and tasks that will be entrusted to him by the University Senate and the Rector of the University.
The professional, administrative and technical work for the needs of the University Professional Council for doctoral studies is performed by the Professional Service of the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius ”in Skopje.
